Our ultimate goal is to…
be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:9b-10
Ladies Drawing Nigh is to be used as a tool to help us slow down…and listen for and H.E.A.R. our Shepherd’s voice.
In our busy and hectic lives it can sometimes be hard to maintain a consistent time alone with the Lord.
We’re busy. We hurry. We fret.
But God says to us—“Be still.”
We so desperately need to take the time to go apart and seek the Lord, to reach out to and connect with our Saviour, our Creator, our Sustainer and Guide. Time alone with God is necessary in order for us to be filled anew with His Spirit and re-energized for His work for the day ahead.
We need time to be still and know that He is God, that He has all things under His control. And to simply rest in His presence, hidden under the shadow of His wings.
If we will take this time with the Lord, then our busyness will become purposeful and effective to the glory of our God. And we will be able—
Let me encourage you to take time away from the busyness of your life today to sit at Jesus’ feet, like Mary of old, and listen for His voice, His Word for you today.
Jesus promises in John 10:27—
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Jesus is speaking.
Have you listened for Him? Have you heard Him today?
How does the LDN Accountability Group work?
On The Blog
Sundays I’ll be posting the week’s resources. Fridays I’ll be posting a wrap-up devotional based on the week’s reading.
Mondays thru Fridays the day’s reading assignment and memory verse will post to Facebook at around 6:00 a.m. CST. Once you have read the passage, click Like and/or Share, and Comment, sharing with us what you H.E.A.R. from God that day. Come and join us anytime during the day. Check it out! It is very encouraging! Click the link to go to the LDN Facebook Page.
Monday thru Friday evenings, I will be posting the verse of the day and my thoughts on the day’s passage. I will also post pics of my highlighted Bible on some days. I look forward to seeing your Bible pics, too. Let’s use the hashtag #LadiesDrawingNigh so that we can find each other’s pics. Click the link to follow me on Instagram.
Further Explanation —
- Click “Like” — Each day on Facebook, once you have read/studied the day’s passage, click Like/Share. In this way we can hold each other accountable and also encourage others to join us in reading God’s Word. Once you click Like, you may want to fill in the day’s H.E.A.R. form in your study Journal (one you purchase or one you make yourself).
The H.E.A.R. Bible Study Method can help you slow down and hear from God in your quiet time.
- Leave a Comment — Please be sure to leave a Comment on the Facebook post. Say, “Hello.” And share with us each day…even if you think your comment isn’t significant. Trust me…that thought is a lie. Personal testimony of God’s teaching and faithfulness in our lives is a very powerful tool that the Holy Spirit uses in the lives of others.
For example, see the account of the woman at the well in John chapter 4—
And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. John 4:39
Sharing God’s Word is how others come to know Christ as their Saviour. And for Christians, sharing with each other what God speaks to us as we read His Word brings spiritual connection of fellowship and joy. And is how we may disciple one another. It is also how we may rejoice with one another, and worship and exalt the Lord together!
Furthermore, we may also share our burdens…and be real with one another…and gain the encouragement of knowing that our Sisters in Christ care and will pray with and for us.
So, please…don’t forget to leave your comments! We need you!
- Verse-of-the-Day — I encourage you to commit to meditate on and memorize the Verse-of-the-Day, or another verse of your choosing. In this way you will keep God’s Word in your thoughts throughout the day.
PLEASE NOTE—One of our group’s purposes is to provide accountability in order to help us be consistent in our walk with the Lord. However, if you miss a day…there is GRACE. Just jump right back in the next day. Saturday and Sunday will be days for catch up, or for reading elsewhere in the scriptures.
BEFORE WE BEGIN…
Please know—that I know—that I am not a perfect person. Every day I am very much in need of God’s help and wisdom and forgiveness. I also need encouragement and accountability and prayer just as much as anyone else.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12
We are on this Bible study journey together, and will learn and grow together. I don’t have all the answers. But I do know that God’s Word has all the answers He knows we will need.
I am so excited to begin this journey of reading and studying the Bible with you! I look forward to seeking to know God and His wisdom for our lives… so that we may better love Him and serve Him!
And I also look forward to drawing closer to my sisters in Christ as we share His Word with each other!
Are you like me? Do you need accountability for your quiet time with God?
Please join us as we read and study God’s Word together!
All are welcome!
